To be completely honest I read a few chapters in then lost interest and almost skip-read to the ending. I found the manner it was written in parts difficult to follow, huge swathes utterly boring, and I honestly did not feel the romance between the characters... I kind of felt like I was watching two lusty pre-teens who WANT to be in love but instead are confused by new emotions and hormones they are ill-equipped to handle. It all started well enough, but when they became physical I found myself cringing and wishing somebody mature would put an end to it as it felt like I was reading about a child being all but raped with emotional blackmail!! One could say this is historically accurate- but that does not make it entertaining!! If somebody guilts a too young girl into sex she did not want I would call it rape... not entertainment!Product details

i loved the first story...the war leader. i loved the second story...aarons story...but this third story war leaders daughter....i found myself skipping large portions of the book it was just so uninteresting. but it is a good story...but now i find i want to know emiles story.
This title points to Cecelia,but the main character is Robert, her rescuer and husband, if only he can get her father, mother, personal guard, Robert's father and mother, the church hierarchy, various armies, and King William to recognise their marriage. It spite of many setbacks, some from family, some from friends, most from enemies, such as kidnapping slavers, the plot twists and clients from the attackers right up to the end.
I was enchanted from the first contact with the Grey Ghost, and kept watching for reappearance as the story line shifted between England and France (although those borders as we know them today have changed frequently through history, but this at least give a vague idea of where events occupied) and many areas in each. Road hazards, emergency services, and provisions where much different as were the means of transportation from what we know of today. This series does the best I have discovered at accurately describing life in this time period. It does focus more on the upper classes, but has enough description of the common life to make this exciting and historically fundamental period a lot less thrilling as a place to live.
I hope that Emile and Aaron's daughter are the main characters in the next book in this series.
Great read, but I liked Aaron's story better! I'd like to know whatever happened to Marelda and Emile, hence, I'm looking forward to a sequel.
A good historical fiction novel. Plenty of action and enough romance to make everyone happy. Only thing I found a bit distracting was how some words had numbers by them so you could go to the back of the book and look up their meaning - reminded me of a text book. Other than that, a nice read, if a bit long. Could have been tightened up a bit.
